About Us

Neytiri will sail on with the same name and great new owners. We hung up our cruising life style for a variety of reasons.

For me (Chuck), it got increasingly difficult to keep the body parts working during the five- to eight-month period we were on the boat. The cruising life style is great for balance, mobility, keeping your brain active, and muscle tone; but it is a cardio disaster unless you’re more disciplined than we were. Another reason (for both of us) was that we have “been there, done that, and bought the t-shirt” for most of the islands in the Bahamas, Windwards, and Leewards , the countries in northern South America, Central America, Cuba, and the eastern coast of the U.S. For one more reason, we tried the RV lifestyle, it was a positive surprise; and we discovered a new, fast growing sport, Pickleball. Finally, we believe we need to cover more of the planet by jet.

For Deb, she wanted to sail on and still wants to sail on. The only way I got her to agree to quit is by translating maintenance/improvement costs on Neytiri into plane ticket equivalents.

Going forward we intend to bike, barge, hike, and charter sailboats all over the planet and we need to get busy because the clock is ticking. So, we’ve decided to keep the blog active during the “boat challenged” period. Will we ever return to the ocean? That is unknown at this time. We do intend to charter sailboats in Croatia, the Greek Islands, and the South Pacific to name a few; and we do intend to do bareboat barging in Europe.
