Beaver Lake Arkansas

October 18, 2014 Posted by Deb

Our good friends, Dale and Augie from Mokakat, rolled out the red carpet for us on Beaver Lake near Belle Vista, Arkansas. We came down from Kansas City where we spent couple of wet, cold, windy days getting some warrantee tweaks done on the land yacht. Dale and Augie tried to describe their cabin and surroundings when we sailed, on and off, up and down Belize with them. It’s hard to think that we just texted them on a whim as we were blowing out of KC and might have missed a gorgeous part of Arkansas. They have great neighbors as well and the lot we used for the RV belonged to one of them. Both neighbors either overlapped briefly or just missed us in Belize.

We ate hamburgers, steak and chicken and drank a much higher quality of beer than is normally in our refrigerator. We hiked on our own the first day then Dale showed us where the real hiking was along the overhanging bluffs of Beaver Lake. He said that in the winter, the water coming off the overhangs forms massive icycles. He loaned us the “Old Red” gator and it was the perfect transportation on roads that were dug out of something just shy of a cliff. Dale and his neighbors did most of the digging themselves with rental bulldozers.
