Super Moon

cactusscottsdalehikeLots of company this year and good action from the “active” adults. We mentioned last year that our impressions of these communities were wrong. It is a Republican Convention around here but very decent folks. Deb’s doing handbag making, silver smithing, pickleball, biking, and hiking. I’m doing gliding, pickleball, hiking, biking, R/C, and the LA Fitness here about six days a week. We had two rounds of the Cast Iron group with Mark and Phyllis first followed by Yvonne, Phyllis, Cheri, Nikki, and Lisa in Sedona. Cousins Ron and Barb (our New Zealand travelling partners) are in Chandler and came down twice. Deb’s relative Eva has been here 23 years and is right down the road with a son (Scott) that Deb hasn’t seen since they were kids. And we’re not even in the prime season.

Nationals

pballnationalsThe National Pickleball tourney was here again and the entrants were well over 1,000. Our Palm Creek club put on a huge effort with hundreds of volunteers, some putting in over 60 hours. Many started in the dark and ended in the dark. The local Palm Creek roster is at 950, up from 400 last year. There were 68 signed up for the men’s medium skill bracket this morning. Its everyday all day around here.

ABBA

We had a big picnic in the park with an ABBA knockoff band. They did a fair job but three or four ABBA songs in a row is enough. We had a couple margaritas and moved on with our day.abbaevent
